Pink Knitted Glove on Kingsland Road

April 3rd, 2008 · No Comments

Another glove that I found on the same day and on the same road, this time in front of a furniture shop. This one looked like it was dropped more recently than the other one though (the red, biker style one). It was not too dirty. Very small, looked like it belonged to a little girl. Poor thing, her right hand must be freezing, without this one. Again many people were looking. I was with a friend though, so it was alright. It left quite a nice pattern on the pavement.

Sparkly tube top, New Cross

April 1st, 2008 · No Comments

On my way to the interactive media lab on Laurie Grove I catch a glimpse of something sparkly. I bent down and took a good look at it and I found out that it was someone’s tube top! Hmmm interesting.. I wonder what the girl was doing when she threw it out on the sidewalk. She must have been having some amazing time somewhere behind the bushes, and forgotten about her top for some reason. It’s interesting how these clothes make you think of the story behind it, especially in relation to where it is found, the state of it, how it ended up there. Some people were looking at me drawing the mark with the chalk and taking pictures of it with my phone. No one said anything though. If I were in Jakarta, people would be crowding around and asking me what i was doing. The lack of interest in what other people are doing is something that I find really strange here.

Stripy scarf in Brockley Station

March 25th, 2008 · No Comments

I got off the train at Brockley station and I saw the scarf lying on the ground in a nice shape. It was quite a nice scarf too, All Saints, not one of those five quid for two scarfs. Good thing I had my trusty box of chalk with me. I drew the mark, took a picture and when I picked it up I noticed how nice the shape looked in chalk on the ground, so I took a picture of that as well. I found this scarf at around 7.30 pm.

Beanie on a fence

March 23rd, 2008 · No Comments

This was found hanging on a fence on Easter Sunday in front of South Kensington Church. As it was hanging on a fence I couldn’t mark it with the chalk I had, so I just took a picture of it, hanging. It was a very nice day, y the way. A little bit windy, but not too cold.

gloves, new cross gate

March 6th, 2008 · No Comments

The first piece of clothing I found. One pair of children’s gloves in front of Sainsbury’s New Cross Gate. Poor kid. It was a cold night too. I had my spray paint with me, so, with the help of a friend, we just bent down, made a mark around the gloves, took picturs and left. I always thought that people would be telling me off when they see me do this, surprisingly some people walked by and not a word. They weren’t even looking! After I took the gloves away to take a picture of the mark I realized how horrible it looked.. hmmm..maybe drawing with a piece of chalk would be better. More details and less risk.
